(John McCann, Headline USA) GOP leadership is keenly aware of a developing trend that could turn the tide not only for the midterms, but also future elections, as RNC leadership seeks to expand the party into minority communities.
“I think this election can create a realignment, where we are a party that represents the diversity of this nation,” RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel told Breitbart News, sounding quite bullish about GOP gains among minority groups.
McDaniel also spoke about elements of the GOP’s strategy, revealing that the RNC “has invested in 30 community centers in black, Asian, and Hispanic communities for the past year, and the motivation of this is: we think there is a time for a shift.”
The Republican leader referred to recent GOP wins, most notably Mayra Flores‘s historic victory in South Texas, as evidence of GOP advances.
“Democrats have taken these communities for granted as just habitual Democrat voters, and we thought, if we invest, and we show up, and we have a conversation, we’ll make some changes, and one of those offices was in Mayra Flores’s area,” McDaniel said.
When asked why Hispanics and other groups were starting to shift Right, the RNC chairwoman explained that such voters are simply using “common sense.” She argued that these voters are opposed to Democrat policies that lead to open borders and are turned off by leftist social causes like transgender ideology and critical race theory.
“Of course parents should have a say in their [children’s] education,” McDaniel said, which is common sense, just like, she argued, secure borders, energy independence and freedom from woke dogma.
“Of course our kindergarteners shouldn’t be taught gender pronouns,” McDaniel said.
“Of course transgender students — biological males — shouldn’t be competing with our daughters in high school sports.”
In short, Democrats have given Republicans a huge opening by driving these minority groups away with woke dogma and failing economic policies, McDaniel argued, and if the trends continue in these communities, a “realignment” may come to fruition.
