GOP Reps. Want to Expunge Trump Impeachment

'Democrats used their second impeachment resolution to once again weaponize one of the most grave and consequential powers of the House... '

(Tony Sifert, Headline USA) Republicans in the House of Representatives are looking to “expunge” President Donald Trump’s second impeachment, which many have long considered a gross injustice.

Reps. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., and Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., who Trump reportedly considers 2024 vice presidential material, have introduced a resolution that would effectively erase the January 13, 2021 impeachment of the president for “incitement of insurrection,” according to Fox News.

“Resolved, that the . . . impeachment of President Donald John Trump is expunged, as if such Article had never passed the full House of Representatives, as the facts and circumstances upon which such Article was based met the burden of proving neither that President Trump committed “high Crimes and Misdemeanors,” . . . nor that President Trump engaged in ‘insurrection or rebellion against the United States’,” the resolution read.

In a statement announcing the resolution, Mullin attacked the Democrats transparent attempt to “weaponize” the impeachment process.

“Democrats used their second impeachment resolution to once again weaponize one of the most grave and consequential powers of the House,” Mullin said. “This was never about the Constitution; it was rooted in personal politics.”

Stefanik agreed.

“President Donald Trump was rightfully acquitted, and it is past time to expunge Democrats’ sham smear against not only President Trump’s name, but against millions of patriots across the country,” Stefanik told Fox News.

According to Fox, Stefanik is attempting to establish her “pro-Trump bona-fides” in advance of the 2022 midterms and a possible VP selection in 2024.

“I am ultra-MAGA, and proud of it,” Stefanik said.

Though the leftist corporate media has criticized the resolution as “factually inaccurate” and “odd,” Christopher Caldwell, author of “The Age of Entitlement,” has shown that, since Democrats successfully engineered the resignation of President Richard Nixon in 1974, impeachment “has become a routine way of changing an administration.”
