(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) Former President George W. Bush made an awkward Freudian slip in a speech regarding Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and then tried to blame the stumble on an aged brain.
“In contrast, Russian elections are rigged,” he said during a speech at his presidential center in Dallas. “Political opponents are imprisoned or otherwise eliminated from participating in the electoral process.
“The result is an absence of checks and balances in Russia and the decision of one man to launch a wholly unjustified and brutal invasion of Iraq. I mean of Ukraine.”
He attempted to laugh off his gaffe, blaming it on his age.
“Iraq, too,” Bush added, laughing.
“Anyway, 75,” he added, in reference to his age.
Bush, who invaded Iraq in his time as president, received a great deal of flack on social media for this slip up.

The invasion of Iraq started in 2002, largely in response to the 9/11 attacks. The invasion lasted until 2011 and claimed the lives of more than 4,000 U.S. soldiers and tens of thousands of Iraqi citizens.
