(John Ransom, Headline USA) Fulton County, Ga. District Attorney Fani Willis, a self-described progressive, is seating a special grand jury to consider charges against former President Donald Trump for election interference in 2020.
The selection process for the special grand jury begins on Monday, which will consider whether charges should be brought against former President Trump for interfering in the 2020 election, said CBS News.
In a letter to a judge requesting the grand jury, Willis said that her office found “reasonable probability” of “possible criminal disruptions” to the election by Trump, according to Local 12 TV.
The original investigation was launched in February 2021 and centers around a phone call Trump made to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, reported NBC News.
“All I want to do is this. I just want to find 11,780 votes, which is one more than we have. Because we won the state,” Trump told Raffensberger as the votes were being counted, which in and of itself is hardly damaging.
The Democrats appear intent upon doing whatever they can to try to keep Trump off the ballot in 2024, likely feeling that in a free and fair election they won’t be able to beat him a second time.

Willis invoked the January 6 riots in asking for FBI protection after Trump called for protests in relation to the investigation, which he says is a political witch hunt.
“We must work together to keep the public safe and ensure that we do not have a tragedy in Atlanta similar to what happened at the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021,” Willis wrote in her letter Sunday to the special agent in charge of the FBI’s Atlanta field office, reported CNBC.
Willis, who is a long time prosecutor inside the Fulton County District Attorney’s office, ran against her boss for the position after he came under fire for misconduct, winning a runoff election handily.
“Y’all we made herstory,” said Willis, who was poised to become the first woman to serve as Fulton’s DA, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
“You have my word, during my tenure as district attorney in Fulton County, we will be a beacon for justice and ethics in Georgia and across the nation,” Willis added.
