Biden Has Told Obama He Wants to Run Again in 2024

'The next election, I’d be very fortunate if I had that same man running against me...'

(Headline USA) President Joe Biden has reportedly told former President Barack Obama that he intends to run for office again in 2024, according to The Hill.

Though Biden has said publicly that he wants to run again, questions about his age and mental fitness have led many, including Democrats, to assume he will serve one term and let another younger candidate take the lead.

However, two sources familiar with the conversation between Biden and Obama said that he “wants to run and he’s clearly letting everyone know.”

Biden sees himself as the most likely Democratic candidate to defeat Trump, one of the sources said, despite his record-low approval ratings.

“I believe he thinks he’s the only one who can beat Trump,” the source said. “I don’t think he thinks there’s anyone in the Democratic party who can beat Trump, and that’s the biggest factor.”

Just last month, during a press conference in Brussels, Biden seemed to confirm that this was the case when he said he would be “very fortunate” to face off against Trump again.

“The next election, I’d be very fortunate if I had that same man running against me,” he said, presumably leaving off Trump’s name for rhetorical effect and not a memory lapse.

Biden, 79, is already the oldest-ever president and would be 86 if he completes a second term.

Videos of his strange interactions with others have led many to believe that he is declining mentally, and that he would be unfit to even run again.

In one video, for example, Biden turned around after finishing a speech and tried to shake hands with thin air:
