In a recently released request, the DOJ requested 130 total term positions, including the 80 attorney slots, along with $34 million to continue with the Jan. 6 witch hunt.
“The January 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol has resulted in hundreds of complex and resource-intensive cases charging defendants from around the nation with a broad range of offenses from basic violations… to more complex charges,” the request reads.
“Funding is critically needed to provide the USAO-DC with additional prosecutors and support personnel to respond to the increased caseload, litigation costs, and other court proceedings arising from the cases.”
According to the document, 750 defendants have been arrested nationwide for crimes related to the Jan. 6 protest, with 210 of them pleading guilty to “federal misdemeanors.”
While this goes on, the federal government has made no attempts to arrest or try any of the participants of the Black Lives Matter riots of 2020, which included crimes of vandalism, arson, burglary, manslaughter and more.
Many on social media were quick to point out the hypocrisy of dedicating $34 million to this, when the country has so many other, more immediate issues:

It would be better spent clearing the backlog of Illegal crossings of the southern border. I am more scared of border crossers than people illegally touring the capitol.

Not condoning the actions of what happened that day but are we going to start prosecuting people from the riots of 2020? I mean how many Gov’t buildings were burnt down, people murdered just seems like they are prosecuting people for their political background
