Enthusiasm Gap ‘Massive Advantage’ for GOP

'The Democrat party today is seen as too out of touch, too ineffective, and two left wing for the average American voter...'

(John RansomHeadline USA) A new NBC poll shows that Democrats are facing a historic enthusiasm gap of 17 points that may spell the party’s doom in the midterm elections.

The measurement takes a look on a 9 to 10 point scale of how enthusiastic voters are about their party.

The “poll shows Republicans with a whopping 17-point advantage in enthusiasm, with 67 percent of Republicans indicating a high level of interest in the midterms (either a ‘9’ or ‘10’ on a 10-point scale), compared with 50 percent for Democrats,” said NBC News.

David Axelrod, a key advisor who helped Barack Obama build his successful coalition, said in an email that things don’t look good for Democrats in the midterm elections.

“Things could change,” said Axelrod in an email to Politico. “But with only a quarter of the country believing things are headed in the right direction, the president sitting at a 40 or 42 [percent] approval and inflation at a 40-year high, the atmosphere clearly is not promising for Democrats to buck historical trends.”

Politico also said that their polling is showing similar results as the NBC poll is showing.

NBC News compared the political environment to the 2010 slaughter of Democrats in those midterms, as Tea Party Republicans took a hold of the grassroots and shook up the political establishment in the GOP, from which traditional Republican politicians like George W. Bush and Mitt Romney have not recovered.

Sixty-five percent of voters believe the country is on the wrong track versus only 28 percent of voters who believe the country is on the right track, according to an average of polling at Real Clear Politics.

The Democrat Party today is seen as too out of touch, too ineffective, and two left wing for the average American voter, based on polling by Schoen Cooperman Research, said The Hill recently.
