(Tony Sifert, Headline USA) Soros-funded Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón has issued a public service announcement offering residents tips on how to avoid having their cars stolen, according to the New York Post.
“In Los Angeles County, we’re seeing a noticeable increase in auto theft,” Gascon said in the PSA video. “My office is working with our law enforcement partners to hold accountable the people involved in this property crime.”
“Auto theft is a costly crime that impacts its victims’ ability to get to work and to school,” Gascón continued. “My office is working with our law enforcement partners to hold accountable the people who take vehicles.”
Gascón then offered residents “a few easy steps you can take to help reduce crime in our community,” including such useful gems as “always lock your car door” and “do not leave a spare key in your vehicle.”
Vehicle thefts have spiked in LA County on the embattled DA’s watch.
The LAPD and the LA County Sheriff’s Department reported a 17% increase in car theft in 2021, with a total of 39,894 vehicles stolen, according to the DA’s office.
Gascón took office on December 7, 2020 — after a campaign in which he received $2,250,000 from oligarch George Soros and $1,653,000 from the wife of Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings — and immediately sought to implement soft-on-crime policies like an end to cash bail.
A second attempt to recall Gascón has raised $3.5 million and is on track to gather the necessary 566,857 signatures needed by July 6, according to a report in Fox News.
“As soon as he was sworn into office, District Attorney George Gascón began issuing directives to his prosecutors, instructing them to go soft on crime, coddle criminals, and trample upon the dignity and rights of crime victims,” the organizers of the recall effort claimed on their website.
