Huge Majority of LA Prosecutors Want Leftist DA Gascon Fired

(Headline USA) A majority of Los Angeles prosecutors want Soros-backed district attorney George Gascon fired.

The Association of Deputy District Attorneys for Los Angeles County, a union representing more than 800 prosecutors in the area, revealed this week that an overwhelming majority of its membership voted in favor of recalling Gascon, who has come under fire for his loose-on-crime policies.

“This vote is by those who are intimately familiar with how Mr. Gascon’s policies actually play out on a day-to-day basis,” ADDA President Michele Hanisee said in a statement.

“We believe the vote of our members will resonate with the voters of Los Angeles as they decide whether to recall Gascon from office and restore public safety as the priority of the District Attorney’s office.”

More than 83% of the union’s members participated in the vote, with 97% supporting a recall of Gascon, Hanisee added.

The vote came on the same day that LA Deputy District Attorney Jonathan Hatami announced the formation of a new Political Action Committee aimed at booting Gascon out of office.

“George Gascon has basically said wrongdoers will not be held accountable for their actions,” Hatami said. “The result – crime is skyrocketing and the safety of every Angelino is at stake.”

Gascon could face a recall election if his opponents gather enough petition signatures to put the matter to a general vote. They must collect signatures from 566,857 registered voters, which is about 10% of the county’s population.

Los Angeles residents tried to oust Gascon last year via a recall election, but organizers were forced to abandon the effort after gathering only 200,000 signatures.

Last week, Gascon was forced to walk back some of his more extreme policies, including his ban on special-circumstance allegations that could lead to juvenile offenders being tried as an adult in court.
