Media Slammed for Doxxing Freedom Convoy Donors… by Ilhan Omar

'These kinds of stories ruin people’s lives and are uncalled for... '

(John RansomHeadline USA) In a surprising turn, progressive Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., called out the media for revealing the name and personal details of a donor to the Canadian Freedom Convoy after the information was hacked from a conservative crowdfunding site.

“I fail to see why any journalist felt the need to report on a shop owner making such a insignificant donation rather than to get them harassed,” Omar tweeted in reference to a story.

“It’s unconscionable,” Omar added, “and journalists need to do better.”

Allison Mah, an editor at the Ottawa Citizen, doxed the owner of a small cafe for a $250 donation that she made to the convoy. Subsequently the business was forced to shut down after threats were made against it and its employees by disgruntled Canadian progressives.

“The report in question focused on the Stella Luna Gelato Cafe,” said the Washington Examiner, “which it said closed down after the owner, Tammy Giuliani, began receiving threats when her name appeared after the breach of data from the Christian crowdfunding site, listing her as someone who donated to the convoy.”

While some conservative critics of Omar praised her for speaking out against doxing, in the never-ending cycle of progressive journalists and liberals claiming victimhood, liberals on Twitter said that Mah is the one who has been targeted for harassment now, and the true victim in the story.

“The journalist whom Ilhan Omar falsely accused of doxing a convoy donor and inciting harassment against them has now been forced to lock her account because of the harassment she’s receiving over this false claim,” said Caroline Orr Bueno, Ph.D, who claims the convoy truckers are engaged in psychological warfare against Ottawa citizens,  “

Despite getting widespread criticism from the progressive Twittersphere, Omar, however, isn’t backing down from her reasoned position that these types of doxing stories are just meant as targeted harassment.

“You all are entitled to your opinions,” Omar replied to critics, “but my opinion remains the same. These kinds of stories ruin people’s lives and are uncalled for.”
