Twitter Flip-Flops on Censoring Hacked Material to Harm Freedom Convoy

'The misuse of private media can affect everyone, but can have a disproportionate effect on women, activists, dissidents, and members of minority communities... '

(John RansomHeadline USA) The hypocrisy of Twitter was on full display as the social media platform that’s well-known for censoring conservative thought and opinion has declined to enforce its own policy on allowing hacked material with personal information on its site because it helped intimidate donors of the Freedom Convoy of truckers.

Several tweets appearing to contain screenshots of the hacked donor list were uncovered by the Daily Caller News Foundation, which also found “links to files containing what appeared to be the hacked materials. One of the tweets was from a prominent user with over 75,000 Twitter followers.”

Previously, Twitter had banned stories from the New York Post about Hunter Biden’s laptop that exposed corrupt deals Hunter allegedly made with China and Ukraine government officials and oligarchs. Twitter cited the hacked data policy that the company only selectively enforces in order to censor the Post.

Late last year Twitter instituted a change that sought to protect vulnerable private citizens, from material that might “violate a person’s privacy, and may lead to emotional or physical harm,” said Twitter.

“The misuse of private media can affect everyone,” said Twitter, “but can have a disproportionate effect on women, activists, dissidents, and members of minority communities.”

But apparently it only applies to those “women, activists, dissidents, and members of minority communities” who are liberals.

Twitter watchers have worried that new CEO Parag Agrawal has put liberal activism over free speech and this latest attempt to stop people from donating to a conservative cause will certainly feed those concerns.

“Our role is not to be bound by the First Amendment, but our role is to serve a healthy public conversation, and our moves are reflective of things that we believe lead to a healthier public conversation,” Agrawal said, according to the Washington Examiner.

“The kinds of things that we do about this is: Focus less on thinking about free speech, but thinking about how the times have changed,” added Agrawal.

Twitter also has been criticized for not deleting stories about donors who gave to the Kyle Rittenhouse legal defense fund, reported the Daily Caller.

Twitter defended the non-move by saying that the stories didn’t include hacked material, but just a general discussion of the hacks.

However, the latest attempt to intimidate conservative donors to the Freedom Convoy via Twitter can claim no such privilege, as it contains extensive allegedly hacked material.
