The Prime Minister has cited “safety concerns” as his reason for leaving, though the convoy has had no reported violence.
According to the Daily Wire, Trudeau has been torn to pieces online, with many calling him a “coward” and a “fleeing tyrant.”

The “Freedom Convoy” has been joined by tens of thousands of truckers protesting Canada’s vaccination mandate, and has raised over $8.7 million through GoFundMe.
“We are a peaceful country that has helped protect nations across the globe from tyrannical governments who oppressed their people, and now it seems it is happening here,” the GoFundMe account reads. “We are taking our fight to the doorsteps of our Federal Government and demanding that they cease all mandates against its people. Small businesses are being destroyed, homes are being destroyed, and people are being mistreated and denied fundamental necessities to survive.”
The convoy gathered in Ottawa this past weekend, where Ezra Avant, journalist and critic of Trudeau, gave a short speech, encouraging people to keep up the fight against the mandates:
