Stelter Blames ‘White Identity Politics’ for Criticism Of Biden SCOTUS Pledge

'The only person who made this about identity politics is Joe Biden...'

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) CNN anchor Brian Stelter has alleged that “white identity politics” has been fueling Fox News personalities’ criticisms of President Joe Biden‘s impending Supreme Court nomination, The Daily Wire reported.

In a broadcast on the inappropriately named Reliable Sources, Stelter went on about conservative news outlets—particularly Fox News—needing a “fight” over Biden’s potential nominee.

He also suggested that Fox’s intent was to drive up ratings by broadcasting divisive content, which explains CNN’s recent dip in ratings.

Stelter starts his monologue by observing that many Republicans have suggested that Biden’s nominee will not be put through the ringer—much like Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney-Barrett—because replacing Justice Stephen Breyer will not upset the ideological balance of the court.

He goes on to say that even though this is something many republicans have suggested, it is not what they really want.

“Let’s be honest, Fox wants a fight. Right-wing radio and TV wants a fight,” Stelter said. ““They need a fight over the Supreme Court. They are already starting a fight that’s rooted in white identity politics. All of Fox’s prime time shows are outraged that Biden has committed to nominating a justice who is black and female.”

Stelter showed clips of several Fox News hosts who said that Biden’s promise to nominate a black female to the exclusion of all other demographics was in itself divisive, not to mention racist and sexist.

He then goes on to say that the hosts of Fox News were the problem, and their comments were intentionally fueling a state of “permanent political warfare.”

Twitter has also weighed in on Stelter’s assumptions:
