CRUZ: House GOP Will Impeach Biden If They Win 2022

'The Democrats weaponized impeachment... '

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, predicted this week that Republicans will likely consider “multiple grounds” for impeaching President Joe Biden if they win back the House in 2022.

“I do think there’s a chance of [impeachment] … whether it’s justified or not,” Cruz said during an episode of his podcast, Verdict with Ted Cruz

Cruz did not say whether he would support such an impeachment effort, but did note that he regrets how politicized the impeachment process has become. That, however, is Democrats’ fault, he added.

“The Democrats weaponized impeachment. They used it for partisan purposes to go after Trump because they disagreed with him … Democrats decided [impeachment] is just another tool in the partisan war chest,” he said.

Several House Republicans have already floated articles of impeachment against Biden. The day after he took office, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., filed articles of impeachment alleging Biden abused his power while vice president in order to “bail out his son, Hunter, and line his family’s pockets with cash from corrupt foreign energy companies.”

“President Joe Biden is unfit to hold the office of the presidency. His pattern of abuse of power as President Obama‘s Vice President is lengthy and disturbing,” she said in a statement at the time.

This past September, a different group of House Republicans filed articles of impeachment against Biden over his handling of the border crisis, his COVID-19 policies, and his bungling of the Afghanistan military withdrawal.

“When Republicans take back the House, we will take our commitment to the separation of powers, our role as a check and balance to the executive branch seriously,” said Rep. Bob Gibbs, R-Ohio, who filed the articles. “President Biden, Vice President Harris and the entire administration is officially on notice.”
