Alex Jones, the conservative firebrand, has filed a lawsuit against the House January 6 Committee even as video evidence shows that Jones “tried to prevent patriots from entering the Capitol,” says Jones’ Infowars site.
Video from Fox News host Tucker Carlson on the InfoWars site shows Jones pleading with protesters to not attack police.
“We are here to take our rightful country back, peacefully,” said Jones as he marched to the Capitol.
“We need to not have the confrontation with police,” said Jones later, holding a megaphone in front of the Capitol building addressing protesters.
“They are gonna make that the story,” Jones warned.

The lawsuit by Jones is an attempt to quash the subpoenas issued by the committee to appear and answer questions, as well as quash the attempt to obtain phone and other records from service providers.
“In the suit, Jones says he intends to assert his Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination — confirming a statement he made on his show — and that the committee rejected his offer to provide ‘written responses’ to their questions,” reported Politico.
Invoking the Fifth Amendment is the traditional way of rejecting the subpoena of a Congressional investigating committee. The House committee in response has said that it may seek to grant Jones immunity, compelling him to testify.
“The Select Committee has suggested that it may turn to the courts to seek a grant of immunity for Jones and other witnesses,” said the lawsuit according to CNN.
Tucker Carlson blasted the J6 Committee in the video on InfoWars, saying that the committee is just trying to prosecute anyone critical of the Democrats.
“For Jones, the committee has questions both about his furtherance of Trump’s false claims of election fraud as well as his work in arranging a donation that he claims funded 80 percent of the rally where Trump spoke,” said The Hill while remaining silent regarding the fact that neither making claims of election fraud nor fundraising activities are actual crimes.
