As it becomes increasingly obvious that the J6 Inquisition is, and always has been, little more than a partisan witch hunt to serve as a distraction from the Biden administration’s multiple policy failures, the leftist media is trying desperately to ride to the rescue and mitigate future disaster for Democrats swamped by a wave of horrific poll numbers.
In this case, it’s the New Republic rehashing an old rubric: Republicans are evil and can’t be trusted. As evidence, they cite Rep. Dan Bishop’s righteous assessment that when Republicans retake the House majority it will be time for the myriad misdeeds of the Biden administration and its minions to be held accountable.
“The Democrats are setting a new bar,” Bishop said recently on the House floor, reacting to the J6 committee’s partisan machinations. “Even while the handwriting is on the wall, may you enjoy the fruits.
“Let the contempt resolutions and criminal referrals flow [as] freely and quickly as a river,” Bishop said. “Merrick Garland. Ron Klain. Hunter Biden. Chuck Dolan. Marc Elias. Andrew Weissmann. Alejandro Mayorkas. Let them come. This is the choice that is being made by the Democrats.”
Leftists, of course, can’t tolerate anyone holding them accountable for their own misdeeds. Fired for abusing your position as FBI director to concoct false narratives for political gain? Receive a full government pension. See how that works.
So when Bishop, R-N.C., even hints at holding an electoral ambulance chaser like Marc Elias accountable for interfering with state legislatures and boards of elections, the immediate response from leftists is, of course, evil Republicans pounce.
Like they did in response to the deadly Benghazi attacks in 2012, which is the ludicrous example the New Republic opted to highlight as a case where Republicans “weaponized and abused their oversight powers.”
The ruinous decisions that then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made that enabled a terrorist attack on a U.S. consulate in Libya, which killed four Americans, wasn’t the problem. The problem, according to leftists, was the Republicans’ attempts to hold Clinton accountable.
It comes as no surprise, in that light, that the Democrat PR machine is already applying the same disingenuous standard to Bishop.
They know what they’ve done; they know what’s coming; and they’re rightfully worried about the reckoning headed their way.
Or put more succinctly, as one vulnerable House Democrat told Politico concerning his party’s future, “This is a real f—ing problem.”
