Republican lawmakers encouraged businesses to stand up to President Joe Biden’s employer vaccine mandate and refuse to comply.
Biden unveiled the new rule on Thursday, which requires employers with more than 100 employees to either mandate the coronavirus vaccines or weekly testing for employees who choose not to get vaccinated.
Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, said businesses should “openly rebel.”

Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., agreed:
I encourage America’s job creators – large and small – to challenge this insane “order.” We cannot allow this unhinged administration to do even more irreparable harm to American workers, businesses and our economy.

Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, warned Democrats that their push to force the vaccines on Americans would backfire:
Are you people trying to start a full on revolt? Honestly what the hell is wrong with Democrats? Leave people the hell alone. This is insanity. https://t.co/jmmjWdZscy

Several GOP governors also vowed to protect their states’ businesses and fight the mandate.
“This is not a power that is delegated to the federal government,” South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem said. “This is a power for states to decide. In South Dakota, we’re going to be free and we’re going to make sure that we don’t overstep our authority. So we will take action. My legal team is already working, and we will defend and protect our people from this unlawful mandate.”
Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey also slammed Biden’s mandate as “unprecedented and dangerous.”
“How many workers will be displaced? How many kids kept out of classrooms? How many businesses fined?” he said.
