CHINA: Climate Talks Will Stall Unless US Complies w/ Litany of Demands

'China, my friend, plays a super-critical role...'

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi told U.S. climate envoy John Kerry that the Chinese Communist Party will not comply with the Biden administration’s environmental agenda unless America submits to China’s foreign policy demands, the Epoch Times reported.

“China–U.S. climate cooperation cannot be separated from the wider environment of the Sino–U.S. relations,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

To preserve environmental discussions, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that the Biden administration must ignore China’s genocide as well as its political and religious persecution.

Wang said the Biden administration must also “pay attention to and pro-actively respond to China’s ‘two lists’ and ‘three bottom lines,'” a reference to demands that China gave to U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman in July.

China demanded that America must lift sanctions on CCP officials and cease to “infringe” on Chinese “sovereignty” in Taiwan, Xinjiang, Tibet and Hong Kong.

As the Chinese Communist Party draws a “red line” with the United States, Kerry has given all the power in the climate talks to China.

Kerry stated that there is “no way” for the world to address carbon-dioxide emissions without China’s “full engagement and commitment.”

“China, my friend, plays a super-critical role” in fighting climate change, Kerry told Wang.

The Chinese Communist Party has not cooperated in good faith with the United States or the United Nations on environmental policy.

Chinese leaders have promised to cut carbon-dioxide emissions even as the nation opens more coal mines and builds more coal-fired power plants.

The Biden administration believes that China will follow its its pledge to reach net-zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2050.

Kerry claimed, against the evidence, that China has made “huge efforts” to reduce carbon-dioxide emissions and achieved “remarkable results.”

“China is doing a lot in a lot of ways, but it’s a huge country,” he said.

Yet, Kerry recognized that China’s decision to build new coal plants is “counterintuitive and counterproductive” to its pledge to reduce carbon-dioxide emissions.
