Facebook Censors Patriotic #Revolution Hashtag on 4th of July

'Welcome to the re-education of America on Independence Day weekend...'

Mark Zuckerberg and his Facebook team censored the hashtag #Revolution on the fourth of July, Reclaimthenet.com reported.

According to Facebook, the hashtag violates its vaguely articulated rules.

“Posts with #Revolution are temporarily hidden here,” the tech giant’s warning reads. “Some content in those posts goes against our Community Standards.”

On Independence Day, the American holiday celebrating the penning of the Declaration of Independence and the subsequent revolution, Facebook banned patriotic language celebrating America’s past.

Facebook has declined to provide details concerning its decision on this particular hashtag.

The decision faced backlash from many on the Right, who have become increasingly wary as the tech giant extends its anti-conservative censorship project.

“Welcome to the re-education of America on Independence Day weekend,” Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., tweeted, posting an image of Facebook’s message along with his tweet.

Facebook has a recent history with censoring commentary that it deems controversial.

After meddling in the 2020 election, Zuckerberg and his employees have taken to preaching to Americans in recent months, warning them that they, or people they know, could be extremists.

“Extremist,” however, appears to be a term including everybody who does not accept Zuckerberg’s narrative.

A Facebook prompt reads, “Are you concerned that someone you know is becoming an extremist? We care about preventing extremism on Facebook. Others in your situation have received confidential support.”

The social media giant has also banned former President Donald Trump for similar reasons.

Nonetheless, politicians continue speak out against Facebook while doing little to address the company’s increasingly problematic role in the formation of America’s political opinions.
