POLL: NY Gov. Cuomo Named ‘Porker of the Year’ for Bungling COVID Vaccine Roll-Out

'The results are not surprising, as Gov. Cuomo’s response to the coronavirus crisis has been an insult to New Yorkers...'

Citizens Against Government Waste announced on Tuesday that New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, won 2020 “Porker of the Year” for politicizing the COVID-19 vaccine and then delaying its distribution while his state languished under lock-downs.

Cuomo, who was previously crowned November 2020 Porker of the Month, won the title in an online poll against five other candidates, CAGW said in a press release.

“We would like to thank the taxpayers who voted for all of the ‘worthy’ candidates,” CAGW President Tom Schatz said. “The results are not surprising, as Gov. Cuomo’s response to the coronavirus crisis has been an insult to New Yorkers.”

Cuomo opposed the vaccine on Nov. 9 when trials showed a 90 percent success rate, saying “We can’t let this vaccine plan go forward the way Trump is planning it, we need to fix it or stop it before it does damage,” CAGW reported.

He then told congregants on Nov. 15 at Riverside Church in Manhattan that he would “bring legal action to protect New Yorkers … if the Trump administration does not change this plan and does not provide an equitable vaccine process,” the New York Post reported.

“I’m not going to allow New Yorkers to be bullied or abused,’’ Cuomo said as he forced his state’s tyrannized residents to wait longer for the vaccine.

Cuomo said the vaccine’s creation and distribution were the result of the “money” of pharmaceutical companies and the “ego” of President Donald Trump.

He earned 32 percent of the vote in a six-way race against New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

Hoyer came in second place, with 27 percent of the vote, “for attempting to force all American taxpayers to bailout fiscally irresponsible states.”
