‘You Look Like a Smurf’: Comer Lobs Hilarious Rebuke Against Dem Who Targeted Family

'I’ve never loaned my brother one penny...'

(Luis CornelioHeadline USA) House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky, found a creative way to counter criticism from Rep. Jared Moskowitz, D-Fla, who had targeted Comer’s family finances.

During a congressional hearing on Tuesday, Comer compared Moskowitz to a “Smurf” in a response that had Twitter flooded with laughter.

The exchange between the two lawmakers centered around a financial transaction of $218,000 involving Comer’s brother, as highlighted in a report by the Daily Beast.

Moskowitz attempted to question Comer’s family dealings during a Tuesday hearing, particularly focusing on the transaction with his brother.

“You also do business with your brother with potential loans. And so, since you have framed that and manipulated that with the American people, that Joe Biden did something wrong when he wasn’t in office, I just would like to know if you would like to use some of my time,” Moskowitz said.

In response, Comer swiftly clarified the nature of the transaction, saying the payment to his brother was for the alleged purchase of a property rather than a loan.

“I’ve never loaned my brother one penny,” Comer declared. “My father, who was a dentist, had some farmland. He died and my brother couldn’t afford it. He wanted to sell it but he wanted to keep it in the family. So I bought it from my brother.”

The humorous twist came when Comer, after a few exchanges, quipped, “No, I’m not gonna give you your time back. We can stop the clock,” Comer said. “You look like a Smurf here just going around on all this stuff.”

In response, Moskowitz pushed back claiming, “You go on Fox News and say loans and deals are a way to evade taxes? We don’t know if that’s what you’re doing or not.”

The Oversight Committee, along with the Judiciary Committee and the Ways and Means Committee, is leading an impeachment inquiry against President Joe Biden’s alleged political corruption and foreign influence peddling.
