Wuhan COVID Research Linked to Alleged UNC-Chapel Hill Chinese Shooter

'The potential to prepare for and mitigate future outbreaks must be weighed against the risk of creating more dangerous pathogens... '

(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) A graduate student with ties to Wuhan University was taken into custody after allegedly triggering a reign of terror on the first day back to classes at UNC-Chapel Hill.

Law enforcement officials initially released a warning Monday afternoon for an “armed and dangerous person” loose near Chapel Hill’s Caudill Labs. After an hours-long search, during which the university and surrounding areas remained on lockdown, police arrested Tailei Qi, a Wuhan-educated physics PhD student who had been working as a research assistant at UNC, according to his social media accounts.

After Qi was taken into custody, it was reported that at least one UNC faculty member was killed in the incident.

While a motive for the reported mass shooting remained unclear, Qi’s links to the Wuhan Institute raised concerns and questions. UNC also has its own dubious association with the notorious Chinese biolab, along with Anthony Fauci and the National Institutes of Health.

That history stretches back to the work of Dr. Ralph Baric, a UNC-Chapel Hill scientist who collaborated with the Wuhan Institute of Virology’s gain-of-function research, according to a 2021 report from First in Freedom Daily. Baric and fellow UNC researchers received a NIH waiver to continue their work after he published a paper about the dangers of bat-coronaviruses.

Writing at the time, Baric noted, “The potential to prepare for and mitigate future outbreaks must be weighed against the risk of creating more dangerous pathogens,” adding, “Scientific review panels may deem similar studies building chimeric viruses based on circulating strains too risky to pursue.”

Monday’s shooting at Chapel Hill and its ties to Wuhan and COVID vaccines took on added layers of potential insidiousness. Baric and fellow researchers have been working to create a new “universal” job to protect against multiple coronaviruses, according to the Daily Tar Heel. The vaccine was reportedly meant to protect against different variants of COVID-19.

That could include what has become known as the “election variant,” which the Biden regime has announced is ready to unleash just in time for what critics worry could develop into another election lockdown to facilitate massive mail-in and absentee voting similar to what marred the controversial 2020 tilt.

When asked during an Aug. 25 press gaggle if he could “say anything about the uptick of COVID cases and the new variant?”, Biden responded, “As a matter of fact, I signed off this morning on a proposal we have to present to the Congress a request for additional funding for a new vaccine that is ne- — necessary — that works.  And tentatively — not decided finally yet — tentatively, it is recommended that — it will likely be recommended that everybody get it no matter whether they’ve gotten it before or not.”
