(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) Whoopi Goldberg, hostess of The View, has come under heavy fire for once again expressing anti-Semitic views on national television.
In an on-air interview with the Sunday Times, Goldberg noted that the Nazi persecution of the Jews was not racially driven because the Nazis were white, and so are Jews, reported Breitbart.
“Remember who they were killing first,” Goldberg said. “They were not killing racial; they were killing physical. They were killing people they considered to be mentally defective. And then they made this decision,” she said, speaking of the Holocaust.
Goldberg also argued that, because the difference between Jews and other white races are not immediately and visibly obvious, the Holocaust could not have been the result of racism.
“You could find me. You couldn’t find them. That was the point I was making,” she said, before suggesting that the outrage following her initial comment was disproportionate. “You would have thought that I’d taken a big old stinky dump on the table, butt naked.”
Goldberg also tried to defend herself in an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
“The Nazis lied,” she told him, insisting that one ought not simply trust their reports.
“They had issues with ethnicity, not with race, because most of the Nazis were white people and most of the people they were attacking were white people. So, to me, I’m thinking…‘This wasn’t racial, this was about white on white.’ And everybody said, ‘No, no, no, it was racial,’ and so that’s what this all came from.”
Instead, she suggested that the Jews were killed for being “mentally defective.”
Goldberg has gotten in trouble in the past for previous anti-Semitic comments.
Last February she was suspended for two weeks without pay for similar comments, wherein she had argued for the first time that the Holocaust was not about race.
