Teachers Union Contract Demands Schools Fire White Teachers First

'If excessing a teacher who is a member of a population underrepresented among licensed teachers in the site, the District shall excess the next least senior teacher...'

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) A Minneapolis teachers union contract has revealed the anti-white systemic racism that the Left hopes to enshrine in America.

According to the contract, white teachers must always be laid off or fired first in the case of downsizing, whereas “educators of color” must recieve preferential treatment, Alpha News reported.

The contract emerged from the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers recent bargain struck with Minneapolis Public Schools.

One of the sections of the agreement, titled “educators of color protections,” stipulates that white teachers should be “excessed”—an apparently nice word for being “fired”—before black teachers.

“Starting with the Spring 2023 Budget Tie-Out Cycle, if excessing a teacher who is a member of a population underrepresented among licensed teachers in the site, the District shall excess the next least senior teacher, who is not a member of an underrepresented population,” the agreement reads.

“Excessing,” according to the contract, means “reducing staff in a particular school when there is a reduction in the number of available positions in a title or license area in that school.”

The section of the contract is meant “to remedy the continuing effects of past discrimination by the District,” which is guilty of racist hiring practices in the past.

“Past discrimination by the District disproportionately impacted the hiring of underrepresented teachers in the District, as compared to the relevant labor market and the community, and resulted in a lack of diversity of teachers,” the agreement continues.

But according to James Dickey, senior trial counsel at the Upper Midwest Law Center, the racial component is unconstitutional at both a state and federal level.

“The [collective bargaining agreement] … openly discriminates against white teachers based only on the color of their skin, and not their seniority or merit,” Dickey noted.

“Minneapolis teachers and taxpayers who oppose government-sponsored racism like this should stand up against it.”
