UN Asks Mayors to Assist w/ Migrant Resettlement Program

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) The United Nations has asked city mayors across the West to aid in resettling migrants and refugees, as the Biden administration continues to stumble in fixing a chaotic open borders crisis of its own making.

Eager to bring their global bureaucracy to local municipalities, the newly-created Mayors Migration Council published a message exhorting local leaders to get involved in global politics by pushing diverse international populations onto their constituents, Big League Politics reported.

“Local governments are central actors — and visionary leaders — in addressing migration and forced displacement issues,” the Mayors Migration Council wrote.

They also suggested that migrants tend to thrive when taken in.

“Every day, local governments around the world are taking pragmatic, people-centered actions that create the conditions for migrants, displaced people, and communities to thrive.”

Local leaders should be thrilled to be acknowledged by global leaders in the pursuit of a common goal to take in more immigrants, according to the UN‘s Council.

“Local leaders are increasingly being acknowledged as partners and global migration governance actors in their own right.”

The move stems from a 2016 proposal that made mayors the first receivers of immigrants in order to get around nationalist leaders.

“In 2016, with the adoption of the New York Declaration, UN Member States recognized for the first time the role of cities as first receivers of migrants and refugees and agreed to strengthen cooperation with local and regional governments,” they added.

According to the website, the the program is designed to help solve the supposed climate crisis, and looks to redesign human life on all levels in order to do so.

“The Call to Local Action for Migrants and Refugees is an ongoing and iterative program of the Mayors Mechanism and its partners, following the model of robust local efforts to… achieve the Paris Agreement.”
