Trump Suggests Alec Baldwin Shooting Might Have Been Intentional

'He's a cuckoo-bird, he's a nutjob. And usually, when there's somebody like that, you know, in my opinion, he had something to do with it...'

Former President Donald Trump suggested actor Alec Baldwin might not be entirely innocent in regards to the tragic shooting that occurred on the set of his movie “Rust” last month.

Baldwin fatally shot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured one more when he fired a prop gun that contained a live round. It is still unclear what kind of projectile was fired from the gun. Investigators recovered nine spent casings, as well as three black revolvers and “loose ammo” from the movie set.

Baldwin reportedly claimed he did not know the live round was in the weapon, and said in a statement after the shooting that he is “fully cooperating” with authorities’ investigation.

However, Trump pointed out that it was strange Baldwin pointed a gun directly at Hutchins.

“As bad as it may have been kept, meaning, you know, the people that take care of the equipment and the guns and everything else … But even if it was loaded, and that’s a weird thing — maybe he loaded it,” Trump suggested during a recent interview.

“But if nothing else, how do you take a gun and just, whether it’s loaded or not loaded, how do you take a gun, point it at somebody that’s not even in the movie and just point it at this person and pull the trigger and now she’s dead?” he added.

Trump cited Baldwin’s past behavior, including angry meltdowns he’s had.

“He’s a cuckoo-bird, he’s a nutjob. And usually, when there’s somebody like that, you know, in my opinion, he had something to do with it,” Trump said.

Authorities are still investigating the shooting but Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies made it clear that criminal charges are still a possibility.

“We haven’t ruled out anything,” Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack–Altwies told the New York Times. “Everything at this point, including criminal charges, is on the table.”
