Trump Says He Has ‘No Reason’ to Return to Twitter

'Vox Populi, Vox Dei. The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated...'

(Headline USAFormer President Donald Trump said this week that he has “no reason” to return to Twitter after billionaire Elon Musk restored his account.

“I hear we’re getting a big vote to also go back on Twitter. I don’t see any reason for it,” Trump said when asked if he plans to use the platform again during the Republican Jewish Coalition’s annual leadership meeting.

Trump said he plans to stick with his new social media platform Truth Social, which he said has better user engagement than Twitter and is doing “phenomenally well.”

The former president has been banned from Twitter and most other social media platforms since the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. However, this week Musk announced he would allow Trump to join the platform again following the results of a user poll.

“Vox Populi, Vox Dei,” Musk tweeted in a response. The Latin phrase means, “The voice of the people is the voice of God.”

After it became clear that a majority of Twitter users who participated in the poll supported Trump’s return, Musk made it official.

“The people have spoken,” he said. “Trump will be reinstated.”

Responding to Musk’s poll, Trump encourages his followers on Truth Social to “vote with positivity.”

“But don’t worry, we aren’t going anywhere. Truth Social is special!” he added.

Trump previously praised Musk’s takeover of Twitter, saying he was happy to know the company would be in “sane hands.” However, he said the platform has “a lot of problems.”

“They have a lot of problems at Twitter, you see what’s going on. It may make it, it may not make it,” he claimed.

Musk’s takeover of Twitter has been chaotic, with thousands of employees being fired or resigning. But Musk said the platform is better than it’s ever been, citing users’ engagement with his Trump poll as proof.
