Trump Hints Running Mate in Revealing Interview, Opens Up about DeSantis

'I think you have some good people on the stage, you have some very talented people...'

(Luis CornelioHeadline USA) Former President Donald Trump dropped hints about his potential running mate for the upcoming presidential election in 2024 during an interview on Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures.

When asked about potentially eyeing his GOP opponents for VP, Trump alluded to several individuals who could be picked. “Possibly,” Trump told host Maria Bartiromo before getting candid about his rivals.

“I think you have some good people on the stage, you have some very talented people,” Trump added. “I’ve been impressed with some of them. Some of them I’m very friendly with, actually. A number of them called me up, not to ask for permission, but sort of to ask for permission to say they’d like to do it. A number of the people up there — I’m not going to embarrass them by saying who.”

The leading GOP candidate opened up about potential roles for his opponents. “I think you have good people, good potential cabinet members,” Trump alluded before being pressed further by Bartiromo.

Trump refrained from disclosing any specific names. Specifically, he said, “Well, I don’t want to mention that. I think I can can’t.” The conversation later touched upon Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., with Bartiromo asking if Trump saw himself potentially teaming up with him.

“I think he’s a really good guy,” Trump said of Scott, who is also running for the GOP nomination for president. “We did Opportunity Zones together. It’s never been talked about it. It’s one of the most successful economic development things ever done in this country, and Tim is very good.”

Trump hinted that he eyes Scott for a potential role in his administration if elected president in 2024. “But he’s right now campaigning, and I’m sure Tim and everybody else would say I’m only interested in one but Tim’s a talented guy and you have other very talented people,” Trump concluded.

Earlier in the interview, Bartiromo asked Trump about whether he would participate in the upcoming GOP debates. Trump highlighted the polling average of his opponents, particularly FL Gov. Ron DeSantis.
“We have a lead of 50 and 60 points in some cases, and some of these people are in zero,” Trump said of his lead. “Ron DeSantis as I call him, or Desanctimonious, he’s in the teens now, and I’m at 50 and 60 and 65, and even saw one today at 70.”
