Trump Hints at Moving for Mistrial over Leaked DOJ Evidence

(Ken Silva, Headline USA) Conservatives are in an uproar over evidence in the Donald Trump classified documents case being leaked to CNN, suggesting that Justice Department officials should be prosecuted over the matter and that Trump should move for a mistrial.

Trump apparently thinks that’s a good idea. The former president shared posts on his Truth Social on Thursday morning that call for legal repercussions for the apparent DOJ leak.

“Trump’s lawyers need to file an immediate motion, with the long list of leaks as an exhibit, asking that the entire case be dismissed because of prosecutorial misconduct and the government’s effort to influence the jury pool,” said a Trump-shared post from political commentator and attorney Mark Levin.

“Moreover, I would insist that the court determine whether DOJ has opened investigations into these felonies. THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN NOW!”

Other prominent conservatives have also called for charges against Trump to be dropped due to the leak.

“The leak of the Trump tape could and, in light of other prosecutorial abuse, should end the Biden regime’s current prosecution of Trump,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said on Twitter.

Still other Trump supporters are looking at the bigger geopolitical picture. The leaked audio shows that the Pentagon had been planning to attack Iran—undermining reports from 2021 that it was Trump who had been pushing to attack that country.

“With [Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark] Milley – let me see that, I’ll show you an example. He said that I wanted to attack Iran. Isn’t it amazing? I have a big pile of papers. This thing just came up. Look. This was him. They presented me this. This is off the record, but they presented me this. This was him. This was the Defense Department and him,” Trump said, according to the recording.

The Twitter account “BigFish3000” pointed out that Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and the mainstream media were part of the lie that Trump wanted to attack Iran in his final days in office.

“I had sought information from those in the position to know, that there are protections against this dangerous President initiating any military hostilities or something worse than that,” Pelosi told 60 Minutes in 2021.
