Thousands of Migrants Marching Toward U.S. Southern Border

'He promised the Haitian community he will help them... '

(Pamela Cosel, Headline USA)  Termed the largest human migration happening in the past decade, a caravan of thousands, made up of a majority of women and children, is headed for the southern U.S. border with expectations to be allowed to enter the country.

Luis Villagran, an organizer of the migration, is bringing people from Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua, reported by The Guardian. The caravan is said to include between 10,000 and 15,000 people.

The migration is timed to coincide with the Summit of the Americas being held in Los Angeles. The event brings together leaders from countries in North America, South America, Central America and the Caribbean.

Some in the caravan are sticking to President Joe Biden’s previous promise to migrants that the U.S. would allow them to enter the country under a lifting of Title 42, first put in place by former President Donald Trump during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to FOX News.

“He promised the Haitian community he will help them,” said one migrant. “He will recall Title 42. He will help us have real asylum.”

However, lifting of Title 42 was struck down by a federal judge in May, and thus, the Trump “Remain In Mexico” policy still stands. Twenty-four states filed lawsuits against Biden’s intent to end Title 42.

Biden’s words to migrants, therefore, are wholly misleading. The U.S. has been inundated by immigrants, posing health risks, as those persons have not necessarily been vaccinated against COVID-19. Yet U.S. citizens have been required to be inoculated, a disparity many consider mind-boggling.

In some cases, criminals — including drug and sex traffickers — have entered the U.S. That, in itself, creates a separate crisis for law-aiding U.S. citizens.

Such a crisis at the border goes against one of the main jobs of the president, which is to protect the country’s borders as mandated in the U.S. Constitution. Biden either has not read the Constitution or believes he can ignore his responsibility to the citizens of the country who elected him.

Villagran, the mass caravan organizer, has said the people attempting to enter the U.S. are from “countries collapsing from poverty and violence,” reported by U.S. News.

The theme of the Ninth Americas Summit is “Building a Sustainable, Resilient, and Equitable Future.”

Biden ought to ensure such a condition for U.S. citizens before opening borders to those who come with only hope, yet expect to live off U.S. taxpayers’ money. Such a burden can only detract from legitimate citizens’ economic futures.
