Texas Fires Back after Being Accused of ‘Bar-Coding’ Illegal Aliens like ‘Cattle’

'Instead of attacking Texas, Mayor Adams should call on Biden to do his job & secure our border... '

(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) Confronted in their own backyards with the reality of the chaos erupting on the southern border, officials from sanctuary cities are becoming increasingly unhinged with their responses.

The latest incident unfolded when NYC Democrat Mayor Eric Adams and his leftist cronies tried to incite outrage over the arrival of the latest busload of illegal immigrants who were wearing tracking bracelets when they arrived in the Big Apple from Texas.

The city’s commissioner of immigrant affairs accused Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott of treating immigrants like “cattle.”

“Gov. Abbott is bar-coding people and treating them as less than human, as if they were cattle,” Manuel Castro said of video that city officials gave to CBS News that showed illegal immigrants wearing tracking bracelets.

Abbott has been sending busloads of illegal immigrants from his state, which has been overwhelmed by illegal border crossings, to New York City and Washington, D.C.

“I was incredibly shocked when I saw children with bracelets and bar codes and security personnel treating them as less than human beings,” Castro said, claiming that the bracelets were being used as a form of intimidation and fear.

“It appears to us that asylum seekers are being asked to wear these bracelets with these bar codes to intimidate them, to scare them into remaining on these buses until they arrive in New York City.”

The Abbott administration fired back, calling the NYC allegations “baseless lies and fear-mongering,” and defended the use of tracking bracelets as a necessary protocol, according to The Hill.

“This process also helps ensure we are only transporting migrants who have been processed and released by the federal government with federal documentation that allows them to move about the country,” an Abbott spokesperson said.

“Instead of spreading falsehoods and complaining about a few hundred migrants being bused to his sanctuary city, Mayor Adams should call on President Biden to take immediate action to secure the border — something the President continues failing to do.”

Adams and D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser have both been fueling political attacks on Abbot for sending illegal immigrants into their cities, even as they praise themselves for providing “sanctuary” to the immigrants who are overtaxing their services.

Bowser has twice asked and been denied assistance from the National Guard to deal with the crisis.

Abbott last week in a New York Post column tagged Adams as a hypocrite for asking Texas to stop its bus shuttle of illegals.

“Adams talked the talk about being a sanctuary city, welcoming illegal immigrants into the Big Apple with warm hospitality,” Abbott wrote.

“Talk is cheap. When pressed into fulfilling such ill-considered policies, he wants to condemn anyone who is pressing him to walk the walk.”
