Texas Democrat Says Biden Doesn’t Care About Stopping Illegal Immigration

'I'm one of those Democrats, I want to give people their day in immigration court...'

Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, who has repeatedly criticized President Joe Biden for his handling of the southern border crisis, said the Biden administration still does not care about stopping immigrants from entering the country illegally.

The surge of illegal migration from Mexico “is not stopping,” Cuellar told the Washington Examiner, even though the Biden administration reportedly struck deals with Mexico and the Northern Triangle countries to deter migration.

If anything, Biden’s decision to relax immigration procedures is prompting more people to try their luck at the border, he added.

“It doesn’t seem to faze him that these large numbers are coming in,” he said, referencing a recent report that illegal crossings reached a 20-year high in the month of April.

Cuellar, whose district sits along 200 miles of border, said Biden is focusing more on responding to the immigrants who arrive in the country than he is on stopping them from coming here in the first place.

“We’re certainly not addressing the inflow situation,” he said.

Cuellar is one of several Democrats who has slammed the Biden administration for its nonchalant attitude about the border crisis.

Earlier this month, he released photos from inside one of the Department of Homeland Security’s migrant housing facilities, which show dozens of migrants sleeping on concrete floors and waiting in long lines for food.

Cuellar, who has visited the Donna border facility many times, said that illegal aliens continue to overwhelm the facility and Biden administration simply erects more tents.

He also exposed Biden’s plan to release more than 15,000 illegal aliens into the U.S. without ever asking them to appear in court.

“I’m one of those Democrats, I want to give people their day in immigration court,” he said. “To just release people into the U.S. and wait for court hearings and all that, all it does is provide more incentive to the criminal organizations.”
