Space Force Unveils Official Song, ‘Semper Supra’

'Let's hope that aliens aren't music critics... '

(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) The United States Space Force has unveiled its new official song titled Semper Supra, meaning “always above.” The song, which is previewed in a recently released video, contains the following lyrics:

We’re the mighty watchful eye, Guardians beyond the blue; The invisible front line, Warfighters brave and true. Boldly reaching into space, There’s no limit to our sky. Standing guard both night and day, We’re the Space Force from on high.

Former U.S. Air Force band member James Teachenor wrote the song with input from Chief of Space Operations Gen. Jay Raymond, writing the lyrics and melody back when the newest branch of the military was created in 2019.

Teachenor noted that he wanted the song to reflect the nature of the Space force.

“The song was a long work in progress because I wanted it to encompass all the capabilities that the Space Force offers and its vision,” Teachenor said.

The new song hit all the wrong notes with some listeners, and received a brutal mocking on Twitter.

“Let’s hope that aliens aren’t music critics,” quipped New York Magazine.

“May the CRINGE be with you,” cracked Jack Posobiec.

Gen. Raymond noted that the release of the song marks the creation of a new tradition.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to establish a Space Force song that will be part of our culture and heritage for years to come,” Raymond said. “Our traditions are part of the fabric that weave us all together as we execute our missions side-by-side; I will be proud to sing ‘Semper Supra’ alongside my fellow Guardians.”

The Space Force was created by former President Donald Trump during his administration.

Two years ago, the branch released a new logo as well as its “semper supra” motto. The branch has so far taken on several military roles such as operating and defending military satellites, as well as detecting missile launches from abroad.
