(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) Little-known, soon-to-be former Rep. Al Green, R-Texas, filed articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump for the eighth time in his congressional career.
Specifically, Green is accusing Trump and DHS of committing high crimes and misdemeanors in an alleged cover up of the deaths of Renée Good, Alex Pretti, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo and Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero.
The Texas Democrat filed the articles of impeachment on Aug. 24, but he filed a privileged resolution on Monday, effectively bypassing the committee process and forcing House leadership to consider the measure on Tuesday.

Green, most popularly known for being removed from Trump’s State of the Union address earlier this year, has repeatedly pushed for Trump’s impeachment.
He has represented Texas’ Ninth Congressional district since 2005, but lost a primary for a separate district in 2026. He is leaving Congress at the start of 2027.

He first wanted to impeach Trump on claims that the president incited violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, in October 2017. In 2018, Green again threatened to file articles of impeachment against Trump after the GOP president rebuked immigrants from “shithole countries.”
In 2019, Green pushed for impeachment after Trump told Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.; Ilhan Omar, D-Minn.; Ayanna S. Pressley, D-Mass.; and Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., to “go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came.”
During Trump’s second term, Green took a similar approach to counter the president’s policies, filing articles of impeachment over claims of corruption and obstruction of justice, abuse of power in connection to strikes against Iran, among other things.
Green’s latest impeachment effort is likely to be tabled by Democratic leaders, who have said impeachment efforts must go through the traditional committee process before being considered by the full House.
Green has pushed back against that approach, claiming in a letter posted on his website that impeachment would be one of the most effective ways to punish Trump.
“Doing nothing is not an option for those of us who choose to honor our solemn oath of office to support and defend the Constitution,” he claimed. “Making bold statements such as ‘the President has blood on his hands’ and proclaiming what will be done next year (when unjustified killings have not been redressed) are not acts of supporting and defending the Constitution; they are little more than performative sound and fury signifying nothing. Sadly, but truly, such inaction dishonors the solemn oath of office taken by all Members of Congress.”
Trump has been impeached twice, and the Senate acquitted him both times. House Democrats first impeached Trump in 2019 over allegations that he abused his power by pressuring Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden. In 2021, the House impeached Trump again following the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
