The South won the Civil War, and the Deep State has been covering it up ever since.
Thousands of pieces of evidence support this theory—including a sword surrendered by Union Gen. Philip Sheridan during the Battle of Chickamauga—and right-wing conspiracists will pay top dollar for them.
So begins the setup for 2019’s Sword of Trust, which appeared in my Netflix queue last night.
Amid a barrage of caustic snipes and insulting stereotypes about Southerners, the script fit perfectly with the Biden administration’s current propaganda about right-wing extremism.
Of course, the irony is that before asserting such claims about gullible-yet-ultra-radicalized deplorables, leftists literally have to invent them.
In order to scapegoat ideological dissenters, these Swamp-dwellers have labored to churn obscure and innocuous memes from the deep recesses of the Web, such as Q’Anon and the Boogaloo Boys, into the country’s greatest threats and the source of all its woes.
But in every case, the lies spread by leftist accusers under the banner of defending public interest and upholding moral rectitude have proven far worse than the original offenses.
There are so many supporting examples of this within the past few months that trying to catalogue them would be impossible.
But let’s focus on a few of the Left’s key fabrications:
COVID-19’S ‘MUTANT’ RECIDIVISM
The Biden administration’s reason for an increasingly aggressive coronavirus vaccination push became clear to me late last week. While I had assumed that the failure to meet a 70% benchmark by July 4 meant that the US was, at least, close to reaching such a goal, I stumbled upon a statistic from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that only 49% of the US population has been vaccinated thus far.
That truly humiliating number speaks to the inefficacy of the inconsistent, sticks-and-carrots approach of current leftist leadership—which undoubtedly had planned a grand reopening under the assumption that people would be clamoring to have their mRNA altered by the experimental treatment once political power changed hands.
The reality is, many in the remaining 51% who count themselves as healthy, with no mitigating factors, do not believe the hype over the skyrocketing case rates.
In fact, they regard the Biden administration as a far greater threat than the pandemic when it comes to preserving to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. And calling Biden’s bluff may be the only way to get the point across.
With strong treatment options and stable mortality rates, more people contracting the virus could actually help the herd-immunity push in the long run.
Meanwhile, imposing new federal mandates would send the economy back into free-fall, thus imperiling the Biden administration’s agenda and presidential legacy before the 2022 midterm. What are the odds of that happening?
ATTACKING THE MESSENGER IN 2020 AUDITS
The deeply troubling thing about audit efforts in Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania and other states isn’t just the clear evidence of mismanagement that could potentially have altered the outcome—regardless of the motives behind it. More revealing is the all-out determination by leftist operatives to prevent any means of discovery.
After refusing to cooperate with the process—and despite being granted full transparency in the Arizona audit—they have proceeded to attack the messenger, trying to cast aspersions on the audit’s outcome even before it is disclosed. If everything were in order, what are they so worried about?
Democrats are right about one thing: The results will be devastating for America and undermine public confidence. But they already have been caught, so the only way out is to keep digging.
A ‘TRUTH’ COMMISSION SHROUDED IN SECRECY
Because it unfolded in real time, in a very public way, the Jan. 6 pro-Trump revolt at the US Capitol has been a particularly odd occasion for leftists to try to deceive the public. But indeed they have.
The two main issues concern the facts of what happened and whether it was out of step with other recent protests that were readily dismissed by the Left.
The blatant attempts to turn damaging details (such as Ashli Babbitt‘s murderer) into state secrets, and to suppress any conflicting accounts—as with Nancy Pelosi‘s stacking of the sham inquisition committee—make clear that the hypocritical House speaker and others are using it as a political bludgeon.
It is an intimidation tactic, pure and simple, to dissuade the conservative majority from exercising its First Amendment rights according to the same standards that left-wing activists—and domestic terrorist groups—insist they be granted.
POLITICAL MANEUVERS BOUND TO BACKFIRE
Many have puzzled over why Democrats in Congress would push forward on an aggressive leftist agenda when they hold an evenly-split Senate and a slim, single-digit advantage in the House.
Even more shockingly, they now support eliminating many of the safeguards that benefited and protected them as the minority party. Attempts to end the filibuster and to push non-budgetary items through reconciliation are but two examples of their brazen abuse of power.
While Democrats insist that Republican obstructionism is to blame, that argument rings hollow. There is no rational explanation for undermining traditional checks and balances—with the full knowledge that this gambit stands a strong chance of failure—unless Democrat leaders are certain that they can: 1) assure themselves victory in the 2022 midterms; 2) spin the narrative so that constituents will forget the current power-grab when the tide turns.
OPEN BORDERS’ OBVIOUS MOTIVES
The Left’s intentions at the US–Mexico border couldn’t be more obvious. The torrent of illegals—bringing with them crime, drugs, poverty and possible COVID infection—reflects a deliberate attempt to alter US demographics in Democrats’ favor.
Not only will the immigrants themselves remain dependent on the public dole for years to come, but their impact on communities will ensure that the education and healthcare systems remain a-shambles; that crime continues to plague urban communities; and that underprivileged US citizens, forced to compete for blue-collar jobs at lower wages, will likewise remain underwater in perpetuity.
Even though it is all by design, the falsely-framed narrative reverberating through the leftist echo chamber maintains that if, in fact, there is a problem at the border, the Biden administration never intended it. The rhetoric and policies that encouraged the influx were all good-faith “humanitarian” goals that just happened to have horrible, unforeseen consequences.
DOWNPLAYING BIDEN’S DEMENTIA
I had a jarring experience once, while working in a busy newsroom: The fire alarm went off, and I, conditioned as I had been in my school years, jumped up to exit the building in an orderly, single-file fashion. But nobody else budged. Apparently, it was a false alarm, but I hadn’t gotten the memo.
Something similar is happening right now in the White House. Only this time, the fire is real.
The refusal to so much as acknowledge the obvious decline in President Joe Biden’s mental faculties is a frightening indicator of how leftists view power. Every public appearance is an incoherent word salad of non-sequiturs. And yet, they feel no obligation to reveal who is behind the curtain—or rather, the earpiece—calling the shots. That is a dangerous place for America to find itself, and more so that nobody seems to care.
MEDIA CASHES OUT ITS CREDIBILITY
All of the above gaslighting efforts can only succeed if the legacy media is willing to play ball in helping perpetuate the phony narratives and talking points.
Media bias has long been an open secret—subtly nudging public sentiment in such a way as to bolster leftist causes, but only to the point that the media could maintain its own plausible deniability.
But until recently, if journalists’ disregard for objective truth became too great, their hand would be forced by a sense of shame—a concern, at the very least, for their own reputations and appearance of integrity.
Last week, faculty at one of the country’s top journalism schools, the University of North Carolina, alarmingly declared that they wished to strike “objectivity” from a list of core tenets etched into their lobby wall.
With the media’s standard-setters tacitly giving the next generation of journalists permission to reject those virtues, the slippery slope into an Orwellian dystopian society just got coated in another layer of Crisco.
