Russian-Jailed WNBA Star Brittney Griner Begs Biden for Help

'I voted for the first time in 2020 and I voted for you. I believe in you... '

(Preston Parra, Headline USA) Women’s professional basketball star and American-bashing lesbian Brittney Griner was arrested in Russia due to her attempted smuggling of illegal substances through customs.

Now the female basketball player, who has a notable reputation for anti-American sentiment, pleads for help from the country she once chastised so much.

The Russian government had previously planned to allow Griner a phone call to her wife under the facilitation of the U.S. Embassy in Moscow; however, it was unable to happen due to technical issues and a lack of appropriate personnel at the embassy.

As Griner’s hearing is drawing closer, she has begun a campaign begging for U.S. intervention in her case, including writing directly to President Joe Biden.

“Please do all you can to bring us home,” Griner wrote. “I voted for the first time in 2020 and I voted for you. I believe in you.”

Unfortunately, she broke a Russian law that carries severe punishment, and the U.S. is not in the place to deal cards with the country currently in an American-condemned conflict with Ukraine.

It does seem somewhat ironic that the once harsh opponent of the country that allowed her to climb to success is now metaphorically on her knees for diplomatic assistance from the same government.

Individuals with anti-American ideology always seem to come to the fruits this country can provide, whenever they need it the most.

Sadly, American help doesn’t seem to be on the way for Griner. She will likely face harsh sentencing, and unless the Biden administration holds some tradeoff for the disgraced basketball player, she will serve the entirety of that sentence.

This situation is similar to one that occurred under the Trump presidency, in which famous-American rapper ASAP Rocky was arrested by Swedish authorities. President Trump quickly threatened Sweden with severe sanctions if they were to not comply with his insistent demand of release for the well-known rapper. Sweden complied.

The current situation with Griner, by contrast, shows that when America is weak under an administration like Biden’s, its reputation doesn’t carry any real weight on the world stage.
