(Chris Parker, Headline USA) Many Republicans are accusing the Biden Administration of using taxpayer money to transport illegal immigrants for abortions, reports Fox News.
Twenty-two House Republicans sent the Biden administration a letter Friday demanding accountability. It addressed Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Xavier Becerra on behalf of a coalition led by Rep. Andy Biggs, R-Ariz.
“Your departments must immediately cease transporting illegal aliens to have abortions,” the letter states. “Abortion is not health care: it kills unborn children and harms their mothers. Federal taxpayer dollars should not be used to transport illegal aliens for abortions or otherwise facilitate abortions.
Biggs also accused the federal government of transporting minors for abortions. “The Biden administration is now savagely transporting alien minors in federal custody to receive abortions,” he told Fox News. “Secretary Mayorkas and Secretary Becerra must immediately cease this conduct and provide us a thorough explanation of why this callous practice began in the first place.”
In many cases, illegal immigrants are being flown to other states for the procedure. His administration also continues to prioritize abortions over assistance for expectant mothers.
Texas recently sued the Biden administration for requiring doctors to perform abortions during medical emergencies. That lawsuit helped bring attention to the federal resources being used to transport illegals for abortions. A trigger law will soon ban abortions in Texas unless the pregnancy ” “places the female at risk of death or poses a serious risk of substantial impairment of a major bodily function.”
“In addition, the Abortion Mandate conflicts with the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits federal dollars from being used to fund abortions except when the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest or the woman’s life is in danger,” the lawsuit reads.
The Biden Administration is also considering policies that would provide abortions for women and girls currently being held by ICE.
