Pentagon Denies Second Request From DC For National Guard Aid as Migrants Flood City

(Headline USA) The Pentagon rejected a second request from Washington, D.C. leftist Mayor Muriel Bowser this week to deploy the National Guard and help ease an influx of illegal immigrants into the city.

Department of Defense executive secretary Kelly Builliner Holly reportedly told Bowser on Monday that the National Guard would not be deployed because its service members are not trained to handle the situation.

“The DCNG has no specific experience in or training for this kind of mission or unique skills for providing facility management, feeding, sanitation or ground support,” Holly wrote in a letter to Bowser, per Fox News.

“Devoting the personnel or the facility for such an extended mission would force the cancellation or disruption of military training.”

Bowser first requested National Guard aid on July 19 and reiterated the request on Aug. 11 after the initial plea was rejected.

Thousands of migrants have been shipped into D.C. over the past several months by Texas and Arizona officials who argue Democrat sanctuary cities should have to bear the burden of the border crisis as well.

Since April, Texas has bused roughly 7,000 migrants to D.C., and about 900 to New York City.

Bowser decried the move as a “politically motivated stunt, one that could very quickly lead to a crisis within our own systems” in a tweet Monday.

Bowser also argued it’s important to keep “fighting for DC statehood” so that future requests for National Guard aid can’t be denied.
