(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-CA, reportedly slammed Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, D-NY, during an interview for a new book, The Daily Wire reported.
Pelosi’s book, titled “This Will Not Pass,” features jabs at Ocasio-Cortez, with claims that she nearly cost the Democrats their majority in the House of Representatives, saying she wanted to be the “queen bee” of the left.
“Pelosi told one senior lawmaker that Democrats had alienated Asian and Hispanic immigrants with loose talk of socialism, Punchbowl News reported.
“In some of the same communities… Democrats had not been careful enough about the way they spoke about abortion among new Americans who were devout people of faith.”
“Pelosi was angry and in private she vented about the progressive blockade that had forced her to cancel the infrastructure vote… She told another House Democrat that Pramila Jayapal and Ocasio-Cortez were vying to be the ‘queen bee’ of the left, but that their reward might be serving in the House minority after the next election.”
Pelosi also fired shots during an interview she gave for a biography by Susan Page, USA Today Washington bureau chief.
Pelosi spoke with Page ten times for the book, repeatedly taking shots at all of the squad members, but especially Ocasio-Cortez:
“Pelosi unloads on the Squad, at one point adopting a child-like voice when discussing Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and offers the Squad this blunt advice: ‘You’re not a one-person show. This is the Congress of the United States.'”
The House speaker has mocked squad members repeatedly on multiple media outlets: The New York Times, on CBS’s “60 Minutes” and more.
“All these people have their public whatever and their Twitter world. But they didn’t have any following. They’re four people and that’s how many votes they got,” she told the New York Times in 2019.
Pelosi also previously told an audience that a “glass of water” with a “D” next to it “would win” in Ocasio-Cortez’s district.
Pelosi’s book is set for release on April 20.
