(Luis Cornelio, Headline USA) A report released on Sept. 18 has exposed the deplorable living conditions endured by U.S. military personnel stationed in undisclosed barracks across the nation.
The findings, first reported by Fox News, have ignited a firestorm on social media, with many expressing outrage at what they perceive as the Biden administration’s failure to prioritize the health of the nation’s servicemen, all while funding billions of taxpayer dollars to Ukraine.
The Government Accountability Office (GAO) released an extensive 118-page report, exposing the harsh realities faced by the nation’s troops who are forced to reside in pest-ridden quarters infested with roaches and bedbugs.
Prominent voices from across the political spectrum have weighed in on the issue, with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., calling the findings “outrageous.”

“Biden’s Department of Defense has U.S. military service members living in filth and squalor on our own bases while they demand more money for Ukraine,” Greene said on Twitter. “I’m not voting to fund war while our own troops are treated worse than garbage.”
Author Buzz Patterson echoed Greene’s remarks, questioning the allocation of billions to Ukraine. “Meanwhile, how many billions have we sent to Ukraine?” he remarked.

The GAO’s investigation further revealed that servicemen were often left without drinkable water and had no heating or cooling systems. Notably, the report found that some servicemen are “responsible for cleaning biological waste that may remain in a barracks room after a suicide.”
Images presented in the report painted a grim picture, ranging from broken pipes to the overflowing of sewage waste.
Responding to the damning report, Assistant Secretary of Defense Brendan Owens acknowledged President Joe Biden’s shortcomings.
“In return for the commitment and sacrifices that Service members make when they volunteer to defend our nation, the Department of Defense has a moral obligation to ensure that the places they live and work dignify their service,” Owens claimed in statements to Fox News.
“The DoD has, in too many instances, failed to live up to our role in making sure housing for our Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen and Guardians honors their commitment and enables them to bring the best versions of themselves to their critical missions.”
