NYC Mayor Admits Vax Mandate Worthless, Vows to Keep It in Place

'But at least he’s finally, albeit inadvertently, come clean about mandates: They’ve become pure hygiene theater ... '

(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) In a move that perfectly encapsulates the leftist lunacy over COVID restrictions, New York City Democrat Mayor Eric Adams has admitted that his despotic vaccine mandate is utterly ineffective and, in the same breath, pledged to keep it in place.

And he’s going to continue firing city workers who refuse to get the, now admittedly, useless jab.

“The rule was put in place; to start changing it now would send mixed messages,” Adams said, according to the New York Post.

Adams, like many of his fellow Democrats, is making it clear that he no longer even pretends to care about “following the science,” as he scrambles for political cover.

In blue states across the country, leftists have suddenly decided to do complete reversals in their views that the so-called science required oppressive mandates stay in place, despite the “science” never having changed. As their poll numbers have plummeted, the lifting of COVID restrictions has followed.

But while Adams abandons the science, he refuses to own the folly of his making.

“The disconnect between policy and reality here is so glaring that the best Adams can offer in defense is a lukewarm worry that changing it might scramble political messaging,” the Post noted.

“But at least he’s finally, albeit inadvertently, come clean about mandates: They’ve become pure hygiene theater.”

In the process, they have also become a political headache and liability for Adams, who is likely remaining entrenched in his ridiculous COVID foxhole because the alternative could prove even more problematic.

Adams last week pink-slipped nearly 1,500 city workers for not getting jabbed, in what the Daily News called “a bloodletting that included dismissals from the ranks of the NYPD, FDNY and the Department of Education.”

All of which puts Adams in an awkward position if he decides to now drop the mandate.

Would he welcome the axed but still un-vaxxed workers back into the fold, publicly admitting his blunder and likely facing a slew of lawsuits, or would he leave them out in the cold for refusing to have complied with what the mayor now concedes is a worthless mandate?

Based on his most recent pronouncement, Adams will do whatever he thinks is most politically convenient.
