NY Judge Clears Trump of Contempt Charge

'I've been investigated by the Democrats more than Billy the Kid, Jesse James and Al Capone, combined... '

(Tony Sifert, Headline USA) Donald Trump was released from contempt charges after a New York state judge held that he had sufficiently complied with a subpoena in Attorney General Letitia James‘ lawfare persecution of the former president and his Trump Organization.

Trump attorney Alina Habba applauded New York Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron’s decision.

“Although we are pleased that the court has lifted the contempt finding, we maintain that it was wholly unwarranted and improper in the first place,” she told CBS. “We will push ahead with our appeal to secure justice for our client.”

The disappointed James has been scouring Trump’s personal records since 2019 as part of Democrats’ long-term strategy of avoiding a devastating landslide defeat in 2024.

According to her staff, James hoped to force Trump to release further records that would shed light on his allegedly fraudulent personal finances.

The AG’s office accepted the judge’s ruling “because it is not apparent what else, if anything, [Trump] and his counsel can be ordered to do,” AG Special Counsel Andrew Amer wrote in a filing.

The former president and two of his children — Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump, Jr. — are scheduled to testify under oath on July 15, Reuters reported.

In an April statement, Trump called James’ investigation the “greatest witch hunt of all time.”

“This is just a continuation of the greatest Witch Hunt of all time, by a failed Attorney General, who continues to use her office for political gain following a disastrous and embarrassing attempt to run for Governor,” Trump wrote.

“I’ve been investigated by the Democrats more than Billy the Kid, Jesse James, and Al Capone, combined,” he added. “This has been going on for years, and in all cases, I have been innocent.”
