The bill, dubbed the Protect Children’s Innocence Act, would act as an outright ban of “gender affirmative care” for legal minors, and offer civil protections to minors who these procedures were performed on, the Post Millennial reported.
Greene called the GOP representatives who did not back the bill—or who don’t object to the mutilation of minors in the name of gender ideology—“worthless.”
The bill would make so-called gender-affirming care of minors a class C felony. Anyone who performed these procedures would be punished with up to 25 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
The bill would also prohibit taxpayer-funded insurance from paying for these procedures, and schools would be prohibited from providing instruction on them, as well.
There would be no punishment for the minor who underwent surgeries or sought drugs for the purpose of gender transition. Instead, the underage victim would have recourse “against each person who performed the gender affirming care.”
There are several procedures that would be banned, including but not limited to castration, vasectomy, hysterectomy, phalloplasty and mastectomy.
Hormones and puberty blockers also would be prohibited for the purpose of “curing” gender dysphoria.
“This is child abuse, and it should be completely illegal. And anyone that performs those therapies or those surgeries, they should be in jail,” Greene said.
“A Republican majority is completely worthless if we are not standing up and stopping this,” she continued, looking ahead to what many hope will be a red wave in the November midterm election. “The Republican Party needs to be the party that protects children, stops puberty blockers, hormone therapy, genital mutilation surgery of anyone under 18—before they’re old enough to actually make a decision.”
Greene has also discribed this issue as “a referendum on the Republican party,” stating that the GOP “isn’t even deserving of the American people’s votes if [they] cannot protect children from this horrific child abuse.”
