More Dems Denigrate Migrants as Domestic Chattel for Cheap Labor

'The guy just said we need immigrants in low wage jobs but then accuses republicans of wanting slavery... '

(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) As the swarm of illegal immigrants storming across the U.S. southern border continues to explode under President Joe Biden’s disastrous repeal of Title 42, a growing number of Democrats are coming under blistering criticism for supporting so-called immigration reform to provide a source of cheap domestic labor.

Rep. Hank Johnson, D-Ga., was the latest offender, and he exacerbated his rhetoric by trying to blame Republicans for fostering the border surge and comparing it to slavery.

“Those folks who are coming across [the border] are the ones who are helping to put food on our table. Without them, we are not able to eat,” Johnson said during a House committee hearing. “We would have no food on our plates. We would have nobody taking care of the building, the construction of our homes. We would have nobody cleaning up in the hospitals.”

Despite hankering for cheap labor stemming from illegal immigration, Johnson blamed the GOP for the border crisis.

“Republicans like to see them lined up at the border because they know that’s a stream of labor ready to be exploited with cheap, if any, compensation,” he gaslighted.

“I mean if you could get back to slavery, you would gladly do so. But if you could pay people $1 an hour, you’d settle for that,” claimed the far-leftist lawmaker who once infamously fretted that the island of Guam was ready to capsize.

Johnson was roasted for his similarly ludicrous claim that Republicans, who this month passed sweeping legislation cracking down on illegal immigration, were overjoyed with the chaos erupting not only at the southern border, but in states and cities around the country.

“My Republican friends talk about how they don’t like that, how it’s a crisis, but yet they savor it,” Johnson claimed of the border crisis that Republicans have been feverishly working to remedy despite consistent obstacles from Democrats.

“The guy just said we need immigrants in low wage jobs but then accuses republicans of wanting slavery,” quipped one commentator.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., meanwhile, is pushing Biden to ease restrictions to allow leftist business owners to hire illegals who make their way across the border.

“Many asylum seekers want to work,” a group of 13 Democrat lawmakers wrote in a letter to the White House concerning illegals who have set up camp in U.S. cities. The group wants Biden to facilitate a loophole to avoid rules that prevent illegals from getting work permits until they have been in the United States for around six months.

“We ask that your administration support the many states, cities and communities enthusiastically welcoming asylum seekers across this country.”

Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., put it in simpler terms and spoke the quite part out loud during a recent House Judiciary Committee hearing, when she declared that immigrants are needed to “pick the food we eat” and “clean our homes.”

Biden’s open border policies must be embraced because “This country needs immigrants to survive,” Jayapal said. “Immigrants pick the food we eat, rebuild our communities after climate disasters, help construct our infrastructure, power our small business economy, clean our homes, and look after the most precious in our families — our children and our elders.”
