Mike Johnson’s Adopted Son Praises Him After Troubled Past Emerges

'I would probably be in prison or I might not have made it at all...'

(Luis CornelioHeadline USA) House Speaker Mike Johnson’s adopted son, Michael T. James, has recently come into the spotlight after a report by the Daily Mail shed light on the son’s troubled past with law enforcement.

Despite the revelations and leftist backlash aimed at the new speaker, James publicly praised Johnson and his wife, Kelly, for providing him with a stable home at the age of 14.

In a statement to the Mail, James, now 40 years old, emphasized the important role the Johnsons played in saving his life. “If the Johnsons hadn’t taken me in as a teenager, my life would look very different today,” James expressed. “I would probably be in prison or I might not have made it at all.”

Following his adoption, James obtained his G.E.D. and completed a Jobs Corps program in 2002. He fondly referred to the Johnsons as his parents, the Daily reported.

However, his path took a tumultuous turn after the family relocated to a different city, leading to a series of convictions as detailed by the Mail.

“From 2003 through 2010, James was convicted in Volusia County, Florida, of a series of petty crimes including possession of cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, trespassing, retail theft, possession of a concealed weapon, driving without a license, and violating a restraining order preventing him seeing a 16-year-old girl he was ‘dating’ when he was 23,” the report added.

A source connected to the Speaker’s office revealed that James is currently striving to become a certified nurse assistant. He attributes much of his progress to the guidance provided by the Johnsons.

“I always felt loved like I was a part of their family,” James shared. “They have been there for me when I have been lost and in the deepest valleys, and I know it was hard at times to constantly help someone who didn’t always get it right.”

James continued to express gratitude toward the Johnsons, highlighting the love he has for them. “I thank God all the time for giving them both the strength, patience, and unwavering faith that inspired me to do better and be better. I respect, love, and admire them both.”

In response to the Mail’s report, Johnson extended his unwavering support for James. “Kelly and I have always seen him as one of our own,” he declared. “Despite any mistakes he’s made, we love Michael and are blessed to have him in our family.”

Despite the moving story, the left took at jabs at both Johnson and James, unleashing disturbing vitriol against both.
