Mexican Cartels Hijack DHS-funded App to Facilitate Illegal Immigration: Report

'Perhaps our immigration system shouldn’t be handled by an app...'

(Luis CornelioHeadline USA) A startling exposé by the Washington Examiner has unraveled a deeply troubling saga of how Mexican cartels are exploiting a U.S. government-funded app to facilitate the illegal entry of migrants into the country.

The CBP One app, initially designed to facilitate the orderly immigration process, has been manipulated by the savage Mexican cartels to achieve their illicit objectives, reported the Examiner on August 4.

“Mexican cartels are exploiting the app’s security and found a way to request unlimited appointments for anyone in the world — far beyond the app’s ‘northern Mexico’ geofence,” the exposé details.

The cartels’ audacious feat involves exploiting a glaring security loophole that allows them to request and secure an unbounded number of appointments for individuals across the globe, the conservative outlet reported.

Former Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf sounded a dire warning against the Biden administration. “It’s further evidence as this administration continues to try to come up with a new security paradigm along that border that I don’t think they really understand it,” Wolfe said.

Similarly, several prominent Republican lawmakers reacted in outrage to the explosive report, with Sen. John Cornyn, Texas, sharing the news with the caption, “Surprise, surprise.”

Rep. Lauren Boebert, Colo., chimed in with her reaction, stating, “Perhaps our immigration system shouldn’t be handled by an app. Yet another example of utter incompetence by Mayorkas.”

Rep. Tony Gonzalez, Texas, echoed Boebert’s remarks, adding, “The Biden administration’s CBP One app has been a disaster since day 1.”

The malevolent ingenuity demonstrated by these criminal organizations in exploiting the app’s vulnerabilities has unleashed a torrent of illegal immigration, straining border enforcement to a perilous breaking point.

As reported by the Examiner, the investigation reveals an alarming directive from Mexico’s National Immigration Institute, instructing officials to bar entry to non-Mexican citizens unless they possess a valid CBP One app appointment.

Exploiting this directive, cartels have instituted a nefarious system that coerces immigrants into paying exorbitant fees for access to the app and a virtual private network (VPN) service. This VPN service, a cloak of invisibility for the cartels’ clients, conceals their actual location, allowing them to subvert the app’s designated boundaries.

Despite vehement denials by a CBP spokesperson, who vehemently refuted claims of a hacked app, the reality on the ground underscores a disturbing truth, reported the news outlet.
