After First Lady Melania Trump revealed renovations to the White House Rose Garden, liberals had a meltdown.
The Rose Garden has been under construction since last month to undergo technological updates and an all-around “comprehensive refresh,” according to CNN.
Excited to honor history & celebrate the future in our beautiful @WhiteHouse Rose Garden this evening. Thank you to all who helped renew this iconic & truly gorgeous space. pic.twitter.com/ggiqLkdGbw

Leftists, however, saw this as yet another opportunity to attack President Trump, arguing that the Rose Garden renovations are representative of a “tasteless, crass, white-power mindset.”
“You destroyed our garden! How DARE you!” Kurt Eichenwald wrote in a since-deleted tweet. Get out of OUR house! It’s not yours to destroy!”
Eichenwald also suggested that Melania Trump’s immigrant status makes her renovations worse than past updates:
Hey @kurteichenwald this is an ugly way to talk about immigrants. pic.twitter.com/7Gl0nwfTXl

Eichenwald wasn’t the only one to use Melania Trump’s immigrant status as an insult.
Actress Lisa Ann Walter wrote, “I feel sick to my stomach that ho [syc] cut down our Glorious DC Cherry Trees. Sick. My outrage is that there’s a classless illegal immigrant, former escort masquerading as a First Lady. Our country deserves better.”
Others compared the Trump White House’s renovations to former President Barack Obama’s White House:

Another liberal claimed the Rose Garden “looks like a cemetery” now, “which perhaps is actually appropriate given what your husband has done to our country.”
Hard to fit more than 170,000 tombstones on that green lawn. But the epitaph is the same.
“Here lies the American people, murdered by Donald J. Trump along with our democracy.”

NBC News analyst Howard Fineman agreed, claiming, “The [Trump] family did its best to turn the lovely Rose Garden into a neo-fascist parade ground.”
