(Headline USA) House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., refused to commit to impeaching President Joe Biden if Republicans take back Congress during the midterm elections.
“Look, one thing we learned that the Democrats did is they used impeachment for political reasons,” McCarthy, speaking from Poland, told Maria Bartiromo on Fox News’s Sunday Morning Futures.
“We believe in the rule of law.” he added. “We’re not going to pick and choose just because somebody has power. We’re going to uphold the law. At any time, if someone breaks the law and the ramification becomes impeachment, we would move towards that, but we’re not going to use it for political purposes.”
Republicans will, however, focus on “holding this administration accountable” if they take back the House, McCarthy added.
A number of House Republicans have already introduced measures to impeach Biden over his failed handling of the border crisis and his bungled military withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., filed her articles of impeachment against Biden last year, calling him “unfit to hold the office of the presidency” because of his role in his son Hunter’s corrupt business dealings.

“His pattern of abuse of power as President Obama’s Vice President is lengthy and disturbing,” Greene said in a press release. “President Biden has demonstrated that he will do whatever it takes to bail out his son, Hunter, and line his family’s pockets with cash from corrupt foreign energy companies.”
Biden’s knowledge of Hunter’s dealings is back in the spotlight as the federal investigation in Delaware heats up.
Earlier this month, the grand jury investigating Hunter referred to an email found on his abandoned laptop that mentions a “cut” for “the big guy,” who has been identified as President Biden.
