(Ken Silva, Headline USA) The Bohemian Grove is a secluded retreat in Northern California where America’s elite power brokers meet to secretly plot the future of the nation—and Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is apparently a regular attendee, according to a new report attacking him.
No, the report isn’t from Infowars founder and conspiracist Alex Jones, who popularized the Bohemian Grove more than 20 years ago, when he attended an event there undercover and filmed the infamous “Cremation of Care” mock sacrifice ceremony.
Instead, the report comes from the George Soros-funded ProPublica, which used the justice’s trips to the Grove to generate interest in its latest hit piece.
“Thomas has been a regular at the Grove for 25 years as Harlan Crow’s guest, according to internal documents and interviews with dozens of members, other guests and workers at the retreat,” ProPublica reported Friday.
The main focus of ProPublica’s piece was about Justice Thomas speaking at events hosted by billionaire Charles Koch, which the publication accused of being a conflict of interest since Thomas has presided over cases involving Koch’s companies.
But the references to Bohemian Grove is what seemed to draw most of the attention when the story published. Some observers criticized ProPublica for only reporting about the Grove when it involves a black man.
“Notice the race pattern: White progressives believed Bohemian Grove was some Alex Jones conspiracy until someone claimed Clarence Thomas went there,” said one Twitter user.
Jones, for his part, has used ProPublica’s articles to generate interest in his original Grove documentary from more than 20 years ago.
“Of course, the Bohemian Grove was first brought to the public’s attention following Infowars founder Alex Jones’ epic infiltration of the gathering in 2000 where he filmed the infamous Cremation of Care mock sacrifice ceremony,” Infowars said when ProPublica first reported on Thomas’s Grove trips in April.
“Jones released an entire documentary on the undercover footage he captured called, ‘Dark Secrets Inside Bohemian Grove.’”
