Judge Orders DOJ to Stop Investigating Items Seized from Mar-a-Lago Heist

'The FBI and the Justice Department have become vicious monsters controlled by radical leftist scoundrels, lawyers and the media who tell them what to do... '

(Mark Pellin, Headline USA) The Biden junta’s militarized raid on former President Donald Trumps Mar-a-Lago home received a major setback Monday when a federal judge ordered the Justice Department to stop investigating documents in what Trump attorneys called an “unchecked, unobserved, unmonitored” political vendetta.

U.S. District Judge Aileen M. Cannon, from the Southern District of Florida, ordered that a special master be appointed to review records that federal agents had seized during the unprecedented raid.

The directive means that a third-party, special master, will be appointed to review the reams and loads of material seized during the FBI’s raid on Trump’s home, including personal items, that may be subject to claims of attorney-client or executive privilege.

“In addition to being deprived of potentially significant personal documents, which alone creates a real harm,” Cannon wrote in her ruling that Trump “faces an unquantifiable potential harm by way of improper disclosure of sensitive information to the public.”

She also directed the special master to “evaluate claims for return of property.” Cannon’s ruling gave Trump’s lawyers and the DOJ until Friday to propose a list of special master candidates.

Trump took to Truth Social to applaud the decision from Cannon, a judge appointed by Trump in 2020, and rip the DOJ being politically weaponized to help prevent him from again running for office, namely another presidential bid.

“Remember, it takes courage and ‘guts’ to fight a totally corrupt Department of ‘Justice’ and the FBI,” Trump wrote.

“They are being pushed to do the wrong things by many sinister and evil outside sources. Until impartiality, wisdom, fairness, and courage are shown by them, our Country can never come back or recover—it will be reduced to being a Third World Nation!”

Cannon’s ruling followed her decision last week to unseal a more detailed list of items seized during the Mar-a-Lago raid. The list included thousands of documents and boxes of material. Some were labeled as classified, while most were not.

The unsealed inventory included 18 items labeled as “article of Clothing/Gift Item,” what Trump said confirmed reports that the FBI searched former First Lady Melania’s closet and other personal areas of the home, taking several items belonging not only to Melania but also Trump’s son.

“So they riffled through the living quarters of my 16 year old son, Barron, and the loved and respected former First Lady of the United States, Melania,” Trump wrote.

“[B]ut despite proven high crimes and treason, and just plain common theft, all pointed out in the Laptop from Hell (and elsewhere), they never Raided or Broke Into the house of Hunter Biden or, perhaps even more importantly, the house of Joe Biden – A treasure trove! This is a Country that’s unfair and broken. We are truly a Nation in Decline!!!”

Also included in the inventory list unsealed last week was a wide assortment of other items, including more than 1,000 documents that did not have classified markings, hundreds of printed news articles, books and magazines, along with a number of classified documents and dozens of folders marked “classified” that were empty.

Leading up to Cannon’s ruling on Monday, federal prosecutors had argued that Trump couldn’t claim executive privilege or deserve a special master review because the seized records belonged to the government and not the former president.

Cannon disagreed, and so did Trump.

“The shameful raid and break-in of my home at Mar-a-Lago was a travesty of justice that made a mockery of America’s laws, traditions and principles before the entire world,” Trump said during a “Save America Rally” in Pennsylvania.

“The FBI and the Justice Department have become vicious monsters controlled by radical leftist scoundrels, lawyers and the media who tell them what to do — you people right there — and when to do it,” Trump said, pointing accusingly to the media box where reporters huddled.
